A-HA MOMENTS

How many life-changing A-HA moments have you had?  Can you recall how they made you feel?

Here are mine:

1. The day I was diagnosed with cancer...at age 21.  I had to decide if I would fight or flee.  I fought and I won and it changed me FOREVER.

2. The day I met my husband...at age 23.  I never dreamed that I would find a man that would be such an amazing life partner, especially so soon after a life-altering battle with cancer.  Twenty years later, I am blessed to have him in my life.

3. The day I graduated from college...at age 29.  I'll spare you the long story, but after having my college education disrupted by illness and needing to work for years to pay off medical bills, I finally found a way to return to college and finish my degree in Accounting.  I knew it was a 'safe' degree that would never fulfill my need to be creative, but it still felt like a huge accomplishment!

4. The day I learned that I would be a mother...at age 30.  I was told I couldn't have children after chemo, so this was a huge life-changer and a-ha moment!  I was no longer responsible for me alone.  Thirteen years later, I'm still adjusting, but feel SO BLESSED!

5. The day I had to move back to OH from my beloved CO (yes, had to). I was 6 mos. pregnant with my second child and made the choice to be a stay-at-home mom.  I had to face issues I didn't want to face and I knew it would force me to grow.  I became depressed and withdrawn and it took me years to figure out who I really am.  I realized that I had always tried to conform to what others expected me to be, including my 'safe' job choice.

6. The day I officially started my Through Jen's Lens Photography business!  This was big!  I'd finally come to the point where it didn't matter what anyone else thought I should be.  I'd stayed home with my children until they were both attending all-day school and I could finally LIVE my dream.  I still pinch myself when I walk into my home studio.

7. Lucky #7!  The day I learned about the Rodan + Fields business opportunity...at age 43.  You think you will (or should) know your path by the time you reach 30, right?  But, it doesn't always happen that way.  At this stage of my life, I realized that I LIKE to work, I LIKE to network, and I LIKE being challenged.  My photography gives me all of that.  The only downside is that it will likely never provide an income sufficient for my family...simply because the photography world is in a state of flux and perceived values of the art form vary greatly.  My aim has never been to get rich from photography.  I do it because I love it.  But, it became VERY apparent that my time is my most valuable resource and I should WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER!

The day I learned about the R+F opportunity, the wheels started turning.  I didn't hesitate to join them in helping to bring clinically-proven products out of the doctor's office and into people's homes.  I knew that if I'd been given the opportunity to do so with their Proactiv brand, it would have changed my life...and that this was an even better opportunity because now I could leverage their reputation and success to help grow their newest skin care business.

8. ______________  Can't wait to fill in this blank!

I know I will have many more A-HA moments and that's a good thing.  Half the battle is being willing to recognize those moments when they present themselves.  Just because it seems to good to be true DOES NOT mean that it is.  Take chances, because without risk, there's little reward.  If you don't feel like you've earned it, there's no satisfaction in it.

If you're at a point where you're looking for a life-changing opportunity, I encourage you to reach out and learn more of what Rodan + Fields can offer you in 2014 and beyond.  BIG THINGS are happening in this business and I would be honored to share that with you.  Feel free to message me anytime at jennifer@throughjenslens.com.

Love The Skin You're In!
